Jürgen Klankermayer

klankermayer-photoJürgen Klankermayer, born in Ergoldsbach (Bavaria, Germany), obtained his diploma (1999) and PhD (2002) in organometallic chemistry from the University of Regensburg (Germany) under the supervision of Henri Brunner. Afterwards he pursued postdoctoral studies with Duncan Carmichael and François Mathey at the École Polytechnique (Paris-Palaiseau, France), and John M. Brown at the University of Oxford (UK). In 2005, he joined RWTH Aachen University (Germany), where he became in 2009 Junior-Professor for “Mechanisms in Catalysis” within the cluster of Excellence “Tailor-made fuels from biomass”. Since 2016, he is Professor for “Translational Molecular Catalysis”, focusing on the development of tailored catalysts for the conversion of biomass and the utilization of carbon dioxide as chemical feedstock.
